These are just a few of our pup's stories. Find many more updates on our Facebook page.
We can't begin to tell you how amazing she is and what an impact she has had on our life. This little dog has filled our home with love and most importantly improved the quality of our lives immeasurably. We had friends over during the holiday weekend and she spent time sitting in everyone's lap lavishing them with kisses and love. She is also great with other dogs. Our good friends have a little Shorkie that loves to come over and play with her. She has great energy and is a bit of a comedian at times.

Here is JoJo after being groomed. No more curls. He looks more like a Sheltie now! And he loves to play with toys and having me chase him around the house. What a difference a few months of having the right food and being well taken care of can do for these babies!
Thank you again for rescuing this precious boy.

Dear Bobbi,
I hope you are having a terrific summer. I wanted to give you a Mitzi update, she’s doing great and we are loving having her as part of our family...
The thing about Mitzi is that she seems to “get it” relatively quickly so it’s very exciting seeing her doing the right thing.
Thanks again for bringing Mitzi into our lives.

Bella, now Zoey, came to Chesed so beaten down by life. Bella was owned by a drug user, who threw her out on the streets to fend for herself. A kindly neighbor took pity on the scraggly “poodle” and brought her to us. Barry and Linda fostered Bella where she grew more trusting each day. A wonderful woman named Ella Monticino, looking for a poodle, came to meet her. They immediately bonded at the first meeting. Bella laid her head on Ella’s lap as if to say “I’m home.” Below is the update:
Bobbi, Zoey is the love of my life! She had so many issues, barking and or growling at all the dogs when we walked. When I first tried to brush her she showed her teeth and growled. I have worked lovingly and with much patience. She has come a LONG way and we love each other so much. She is one of the smartest dogs I have ever known. Her hair has grown in somewhat. She had her first grooming three weeks ago. She loves her bath. We walk two miles every morning and she has mellowed out so much, except when she sees the squirrels, then she pulls me . Now, she has made friends with several dogs and loves the children in my neighborhood and they love her. They all know Zoey!
She has a basket full of toys and loves to play.
I could go on and on. but to let you know Zoey is mine and she loves me dearly.
Thank You
-Ella & Zoey (the wonder dog)
Hi Bobbi
I wanted to give you an update on Dooney. I adopted him from Chesed on 11/02/2011. He is definitely the love of my life. We just celebrated our one year anniversary. Thanks again for rescuing him and letting me adopt him. It was love at first sight the day I saw him and we are bonded for ever.
Thanks again,

About 7 years ago a young man named Todd McColgin adopted a pit mix puppy named Callie. While he met all our “paper” criteria, we always have concerns with a young person starting out, and especially with a pit mix. Melinda did the home visit and let Callie go with fingers crossed. Todd has consistently stayed in touch every year with updates.
Callie is the love of his life. Todd even found a doggie day care a few years ago that let Callie and her “pittiness” in so she can have “camp” days. Todd is a rare adopter who goes above and beyond to ensure his girl has a terrific life. Todd even has Callie tattooed on his arm!
“Dear Bobbi: I wanted to send a picture of Scruffy and give you an update. He is doing wonderfully and has completely adjusted to his new life and is such a GREAT DOG!!!!! Scruffy is doing very well …. joyful and full of love and energy, an intelligent and loving boy. He is completely housebroken and has been learning his commands. On Friday we have our first obedience class. I am very excited.
“Ron and I cannot believe how much love and laughter Scruffy has brought to our lives. Ron ADORES him and we all go for our walks together. We are a family and Scruffy completes us.
Thank you for allowing us to have Scruffy and most of all for rescuing this wonderful dog. Thank you for having such a wonderful person like Nancy Suchoff as a Foster Mom.
“We just wanted to let you know that we are giving him the love, the life and home he deserves.”
Blessings
